Continual Absorption Shielding was introduced with the Advanced line of fighters. ArTron scientists (ArTech) sought more protection for the pilots flying the fighters, so they teamed up with Velmar Industries and developed the CAS. These new shielding systems were then installed in the newest fighters, offering almost unlimited protection. However, CAS was very expensive, so it could not be put on all craft.
