The Lf-5, like the Lf-1 was built in the year 2169 for defense of the mining company. This ship is a little less maneuverable than the Arrow, but it is faster. Both the Lf-1 and Lf-5 were developed when news of the Blacktron threat arrived at Cassius in 2168. The reason they were built so quickly was that old Earth fighters were revived and modified to bring them up to close-to-modern standards.
