In 2174 plans for a bigger ship were in the works. At that time, ArTron had only three fighters with the Hf-8 on the way. A large, heavily-armed vessel would be more advantageous against a big-ship attack from Blacktron. So three years later, the cruiser class was introduced with the Cr-3 Wasp. With the advent of the cruiser, ion cannons for disabling enemy vessels for capture, and guided missiles were introduced into the ArTron arsenal.
