Are you searching for truth? You've come to a good place, though I am humbled that God might use me and this site to share the good news about Life. The truth on this site is not my own invention, but God's. I urge you to find it in the Holy Bible, God's Word. If you don't have one, you can read it online at http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible?version=NASB&passage=all. THE TRUTH ABOUT MANKIND Why does man act so violently? Why are there wars and school shootings and things like that? Man is supposed to be innately good, right? Sadly, this is wrong. The tragedies of this world are proof that man is instead innately evil. They show that we are miserable, sinful scum. Romans 3:10-12 says, "There is none righteous, not even one; there is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God; all have turned aside, together they have become useless; there is none who does good, there is not even one." And even more depressing is Romans 1:18-32:
This describes every vice in society well, doesn't it? Notice that it says "those who do such things are worthy of death. That means that everyone is worthy of death, for if you have only spoken one lie, or thought only one evil thought, that means you are sinful before God and according to His supreme law, you ought to die. But who is this God? Why are we supposedly accountable to Him? God is the Creator of the world and all things in it: He spoke it into existence "and it was" (Psalm 33:9). He is Lord of heaven and earth. He does not need us, since He Himself gave us life and all we have. God is infinite in all ways, unchanging, holy, righteous, just, loving, perfect, wise, present everywhere, all-powerful, all knowing, and all-seeing. He is an invisible spirit not plagued with human passions. He has existed since before the world, and exists of Himself outside of time. God is one, yet there are three distinct Persons in the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One!" [In Hebrew, echad, a unity of many in one entity.]) Since we are finite and He is infinite, we cannot comprehend Him or know Him unless He wills it. Just as you own anything you make, God, who made us, owns us. Because He owns us, He may set any rules for us to live by, and we are obliged to obey those rules. His law is found in essence in the Ten Commandments:
So, as I said before, every person has sinnedbroken God's rulesand God may punish everyone with death. But God loved the people that He created; He didn't want them to die. The only way to save mankind from death, was for someone to die in their place. God had instituted sacrifices for his chosen people of Israel to perform in order to atone for their sins, but that didn't remove sin. Rather, the sacrifice was a picture of what was to come: God would come down to earth in the form of a sinless man and die as the Ultimate Sacrifice for sin. When Jesus died, God laid all the sin which we committed on him, just as though he had sinned and was being punished, instead of us. "For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ [Jesus] died for the ungodly...but God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:6,8 Jesus is God and He couldn't stay dead. He came alive again from the dead three days later! This was the final proof, after all the miracles He had performed on earth, that He was God. The Resurrection gives us the assurance that we can trust in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ to save us from our death-bound sinful state. All that is necessary for you to do to be saved is believe that Jesus, God incarnate, died to take your sin away. That's all: just believe! Salvation is the simplest thing in the world to do. You don't have to do any good works to be saved. You do not have to be the vilest of evildoers in the world to be saved, because "all have sinned" (Romans 3:23). You need only believe. Please confess Jesus as your Savior today! While we pray and while we plead,
You have wandered far away;
In the world you've failed to find
Why not now? Why not now?
